I feel like I am on an episode of Survivor minus the exotic island. We are not sleeping AT ALL and as of last week Emma joined us. She now gets up in the middle of the night screaming. Not sure if she is getting up because she doesn't feel well or if she has nightmares about her new sibling (we've experienced a little regression). Either way our nights are B.R.U.T.A.L.
Thank the Lord that I have my husband helping me every step of the way. We took turns consoling Emma last night and then when we realized she was NOT going back to sleep anytime soon, he took her into our bonus room and watched three episodes of Caillou with her and then put her back down to bed. Lily Mae wakes up every two hours to nurse and my sweet hubs rubs my back during every feeding. He has been so helpful with the babes that I am truly scared and ridden with anxiety because he is leaving for business trips in the upcoming weeks. Tears.
Things aren't always blissful between us. Just two nights ago when we were beyond tired and getting up on the hour- we started barking at each other. I will spare our readers the details of what we said but it wasn't nice. Morning came and neither of us brought up the 3:00 a.m. dispute. Last night we were lying in bed talking and I brought up the argument. We were both very sheepish about even talking about it hoping to just brush it off and NEVER mention it again. The funny thing is we started laughing about it. Like full on hysterical tear producing laughter.
I am not complaining about our Survivor like lifestyle at the moment because we are truly blessed with all these little ladies. I am rather giving a compliment and thank you to my wonderful husband for all he does for our family. Thank you Sherm. We love you!
Cathy, what a wonderful tribute to your husband. He sounds like an amazing dad! I have to admit, though, that your post made me even more nervous for my upcoming sleepless nights with a newborn plus two toddlers. I don't do "survivor" mode very gracefully! I hope everything smooths out soon and your girls allow you and Sherman to get some rest. Hang in there!
